The first event of ‘The Literati’ was Poetry reading. The event took place on Wednesday, 20 July 2016 in the Bird's Park. A small group of 8 people, from 1st year TEP and JPEng, were present to participate in the poetry reading activity. They witnessed the event as well. The participants varied from devout priests to avid bloggers whose poems had recurring themes of hope and gaining a spark of inspiration in the duller hours. With an honest presentation of their original works, the poems had a rhythmic quality though they were written in free verse. We had an engaging discussion after each reading on the background, the experiences and the emotions behind each poem. It was amazing to see how much we could relate to each other through poetry, a process that would not have been possible through ordinary articulation.
